I can't remember if the JL 500/1 has a crossover in it. I'm pretty Sure it does. I always used Audio Control Crossovers and Signal processors with my systems so I can't remember. If you are running a 10" sub I would set the crossover at about 150 Hz. And set the subsonic at about 50Hz and see how it sounds.
