The longer 808 in the "Pain" beat keeps the bass ringing all the way through the next 808 hit. Neither is better/worse, just different approaches. 2. Your kick and 808 are competing a bit.

When I am designing the 808's they hit really hard but when i am put them in a mix they sound trash. Some of them are inaudible, some arent tuned and what not. I use ableton and they sound good by themself lol.
