You probably have outdated Audio Drivers. Try updating them. Also try updating to DX11 while you're at it, just to be sure. Could you also please post your system specs (RAM, CPU, OS, GFX Card, Audio Card), and what version of Snes9x you're using as well?

Go to your snes9x folder, find the configuration file (snes9x.conf), open it, find "enable APU" or something like that (it's under the sound category) and replace "FALSE" with "TRUE". When the music crashes due to bad addmusic and you close snes9x without resetting the ROM, it will do that.
