    I am using component cables on a older tv. I checked to see if the problem was the tv by using another tv with the component cables and even used a new set of cables from a previous xbox360.     1 There's an option in the PS2 menu that says something like "Audio out" and you can set to Optical or Component (or "Digital audio output " On, Off, I don't remember quite right), you could try that.
