It goes without saying that they sound best if placed on the speaker stands that were intended for this model. The stands get them the correct distance off of the floor and give them a slight backward tilt.

The Monitor 10 Series II's were the last run of the Monitor 10's. My original drivers were all dated 1991, and the tweeters were the SL2500's as stated before. I don't know if Polk has replaced them with a different part number in the meantime, like they did for the SL2000's. Note the foam ring around the tweeter.

I bought these brand new. I spent 2 hours listening to all the top end speakers at the time and the Polk Monitor 10 Series II stood out then and they haven't made anything better since. I bought a pair of LSIM Towers and set one up. I sent them back. My Monitor 10 Series II sounded as good as the new ones.

Ive got the Polk Audio RTA-11T speakers, which are in essence the same drivers and all except in a tower configuration. Ive listened to many speakers over the years, (( these are from 1990 )) and havent been able to find anything at a reasonable price that can better them. No they arent perfect but a very respectable lower to mid priced speaker!
