I reinstalled the sep/22/build and turned off ouya updates in the advanced settings menu and that seemed to prevent the old xbmc from updating to the new no audio version. Atleast in the past 12 hours it hasn't prompted me to update. The default android version runs really awful on the Ouya.

· 9 yr. ago OUYA Backer OUYA doesn't yet do passthrough with audio. It's a bigger issue with those wanting to use it for XBMC, as the OUYA also sucks at decoding multi-channel audio. Their Support has said audio passthrough is something they're considering for future firmware.

XBMC sometimes mutes the sound for me. You can either shutdown and restart the console or alternatively go into the native android menu to increase the sound volume again. I wanted to check if my old Ouya still works, so I pulled it out from the back of the closet where it sat for the last 5 years or so, reflashed it with version 1.2.1427-r1 and got it set up, and I'm back with the issue that made me stop using it - no audio from HDMI, except in the settings menu when choosing a ringtone.
