    Audio engineer here. Pcs are terrible for Audio production for many reasons mainly Audio driver issues. The MacBook pros are extremely powerful and more than enough for starting engineers and expert engineers alike. The base model MacBook Pro is perfect for your needs and will last you for quite awhile.

    There is no reason that a loaded 15" MBPr wouldn't work fabulously for most any pro audio engineering work. I work at a major game company and a majority of the sound design is done on Macs, and the complete, very dense, complex and interactive score/soundtrack for one of our more popular games was done completely on an older MacBook Pro.
