This could be EASILY fixed by disabling the digital audio out, but of course Apple doesn't have an interface to easily disable/enable hardware. I have about had it up to here with my Macbook Pro. With the Bootcamp set up I could actually control sound output at the application level in Windows 7 ie select digital out to my AV for most applications and use the internal speakers for VOIP eg Skype.
