My headphones are surround but my speakers are stereo. I had unplugged my headphones, but for some reason Windows stayed in 5.1 surround. I put everything back to stereo, both in Windows and in-game and now it works. Check your Windows sound settings, make sure everything's default. Lower hardware acceleration if possible.
