When I boot a generic XBMC Live distro on the Acer Revo, it does not give me any options under audio output or passthrough. I used the default hdmi on both and have my hdmi going into my Samsung TV, with optical out to my receiver. My receiver (a cheap Yamaha) doesn't pass audio over hdmi, go figure!
