The Sony S550 decodes the DTS-HD Master Audio internally. It sends it to the AVR as PCM over the HDMI connection. If you are seeing PCM 5.1, then you are getting the full DTS HD sound. HDMI 1.3a is not necessary.

Oct 12, 2008. #18. Sky HD is different as it's not broadcasting the HD audio formats, only the older Dolby Digital / DTS 5.1 formats on some channels. In fact, with the Sky HD box, you only actually get stereo through the HDMI cable (no idea why - it's a limitation built into the box). So with this, your best bet is the digital optical cable.

Plugging your Blu-Ray player directly into the STR-DN1080 will allow you to replay disks with DTS HD Master Audio soundtracks and that has always been the case for AV amps which support that format. However, if you were to plug your Blu-Ray player directly into your TV and connect it to an AV amp via ARC, that would only allow you to pass ...

Looks like you might have to switch audio settings depending what you are playing. When playing DTS-HD-MA to a non capable HD-MA (but capable of DTS simpliciter) amp, the DTS core stream should be sent. But DTS-HD support needs to be "off" in XBMC audio settings. For your DTS-HD (nonMA) files you need to switch it back on.

Bad answer. Grumpy Old Men was released theatrically in u0010Dolby Stereo. To replicate the theatrical sound you should use Pro Logic or Pro Logic II to take advantage of the matrixed center and surround channels. And by the way, pretty much any movie that has 2.0 sound on DVD or Blu-ray should be listened to with Pro-Logic.

Posted by Ponce1000: “DTS-HD Master Audio Passthrough Not Working on Kodi” ... I did search the forum. The problem is that the search is across all Nvidia boards and not just contextual to Shield TV, so it's hard to find germane matches. As Shield added DTS HD and Dolby TrueHD before I bought my unit, I erroneously assumed it would work ...

I prefer DTS-HD Master Audio over Dolby True-HD. Both of them may be lossless but DTS HD-Master Audio gives us those who still own an old fashioned lossy AV receiver the chance to decode/listen to full range DTS which in my opinion is the next best thing to a …
