Sonicap vs Dayton audio caps - The Klipsch Audio …

IMHO a Sonicap is a higher quality capacitor, and should sound more detailed and transparent than a Dayton. You will also pay much more for Sonicaps. But they don't break the bank and you should only have to buy them once. If the priority is good sound I would pick a Sonicap over a Dayton. 1 Quote jason str Heritage Members 5.2k Location: Indiana

Good point, I see some dayton audio caps for $2.64 on amazon, maybe I'll pick those up. easy to swap in. @loninappleton: I will try to make some 'how to' photos. The key is to have a good soldering iron with a very thin tip so you can pinpoint the capacitors.

I used to run the venerable Sonic Impact T-Amp at my desktop for many years (which appears to be basically the same amp as the Dayton DTA-1). When it finally died, I replaced it with the Lepai 2020a+.

So I just noticed the Dayton APA150 as a new addition to Parts Express inventory (one of my favorite toy stores) and I was just wondering if anyone has given this thing a try yet, more to the point, how does it's fidelity compare to that of a T-Amp. By the way, Sonic Impact has just released the 2nd generation T-Amp which I may try as well.

Well the Dayton is the same chip as the old "Sonic Impact" amps which were very popular. There's plenty of info out there on the sonic impact amps including many modifications - the SI had a poor input circuit out of the box that cut the bass, simple modifications brought it to be a fairly good amp. I can't speak for the Dayton on its circuit design.
