For non-VDA-2 owners, if you look in the VDA-2 manual (PDF available on CIAudio web site), there is a diagram showing how the phase switch affects inversion/non-inversion of outputs 1 and 2 in single-ended operation. If you move the switch to 180, output 2 (marked phase 180 in the back) will send out a non-inverted signal.

It is not exactly a highly filtered power supply. (CIAUDIO offers a power supply upgrade for $179.) So, putting that number aside, look at the various harmonic peaks that the 80ES DAC creates vs. the peaks that the VDA-1 creates. You can see that the harmonics are much less in the 400 Hz to 20 kHz range with the VDA-1.

The VDA-2 clearly surpases the NAD in all respects except noise floor, where they come in at about the same level. This is noticable only when turning up my preamp's volume control to extremely high levels when nothing is being played. The VDA-2 DAC clearly sounds better than the NAD CDP however in every respect for normal listening.
