Speakers for Bryston - Audiogon Discussion Forum

In no particular order I would recommend B&W speakers from the 800 series and also the Dynaudio Contour and Confidence lines (though some find the Bryston-Dynaudio a bit on the cold side). Dali Helicon and Euphonia lines might also be a good match. I have audition at home the BP25 pre and the 4BSST amp for a week.

Chord SPM 600 VS Plinius SA102 VS Bryston 4BST with Dynaudio Contour S3.4. I am looking at a power amp for my dynaudio contour S3.4. My room size is 4 meters by 6 meters (distance between speakers and me 4 meters). I am at a loss to figure out which 2 channel power amp to choose for my system. Which amp would be the best match for my Dyn S3.4.

Front Left/Right: Dynaudio Contour 30 (300W 4ohm) Center: Dynaudio Contour 25C (300W 4ohm) Surrounds are Polk and an Infinity Sub. I understand that Dynaudios are power hungry speakers and really start to sing with high power so I'm wondering if my Arcam is enough to drive the Dynaudio Contours. I am looking to maybe upgrade to a Parasound A31 ...

The Dynaudio Contour 1.3 speakers are not the easiest load to drive but the 2B does more than an admirable job, the midrange, and treble are smooth and extremely well defined. The bass which is a strong point of the Contour 1.3 is no less than phenomenal. The soundstage width and depth is nearly unbelivable.

We use Bryston 4BSST and Simaudio as reference amps on our Contour 5.4's. Those Canadians sure can make amplifiers. If you value accurate/powerful sound with unmatched reliability then Bryston is the way to go. Plinius also does work well with Dynaudio. One of our clients uses a Plinius to power a pair of 5.4's in his 2-channel setup. G Gulinias

The Adams are a step up in cost, if only you are OK with HD800 kind of highs. The Neumann monitors are $$$ and will put you to sleep. Better nearfields will be significantly more expensive - from ATC or Dynaudio e.g., BM15 passive - and only from the earlier era because Dynaudio's new woofer tech sucks balls and sounds spongy.
