The Axiom M50 is the Axiom speaker that gets "no love". It's hard to find a review. The company itself has stated the M60's outsell it by a large margin. So why bother testing out a speaker few others have? This was simple: The M3 bookshelf from Axiom has received a lot of rave reviews, and is a simple, two way design.

I know most people have said the M60 is much better than the AS-F2, but its also 200 more for the pair. What about the m50's? The prices are practically identical. I checked the specs and they are pretty close, except the athenas have 8in speakers whereas the axioms have 6.5in speakers. Also, the athenas are heavier and look a lot nicer.

Axiom M60 v3 Product Specifications. The Axiom M60s have been around for quite some time. Over the years the company has continually refined its performance which we can partly validate with their latest v2 edition that no longer employs electrolytic caps in series with the tweeter. Instead, they've been replaced with less lossy poly ones.

I don't believe I ever did listening tests of the M60 v4. If memory serves, I think the last version I heard was the v3. In passing, I'd note that whenever Ian upgrades an Axiom model with a new tweeter, he will always tweak the crossover a bit to adjust it to the characteristics of the new tweeter and achieve a smooth neutral frequency response.
