But wait, there’s more: There’s one other critical place for this bypass treatment that is almost always overlooked – the output stage cathode bypass capacitors. Electrolytics used for cathode bypass must be replaced or …

By putting a capacitor alongside the cathode resistor, we can hold the cathode at a desired DC voltage, but allow AC to pass through the capacitor. …

The cathode bypass is very large because it is shorting the full spectrum AC signal (20Hz - 20KHz) on the cathode and eliminating the degenerative feedback and raising the gain. If the cap is now 220uF there would be no predicted effect by adding say, .01uF of any type of cap, because ALL the HF are already being grounded by the original cap.

If you wanted to bypass the cathode resistor alone all the way down to 5hz it would only take a 42.44uf cap (just like your link). But the cathode of the tube has it's own impedance of 634.6 ohms and the cathode resistor is in parallel with that so the cathode bypass cap needs to bypass 343.75 ohms.

When I put in a 1.5k cathode resistor, half a 12AX7, and a 0.22uF cathode bypass cap, the frequency response is flat below about 100 Hz, and also flat above about 3 kHz. Between those two flat regions there is about a 5 dB rise, with the +3dB point at about 800 Hz. (See attached image.)

Cathode resistor is 20 ohms so no need to bypass. 165v on the plate, 15v supply to the filaments in filament bias, so this feeds the filament and cathode resistor in series and the resistor sets the bias. I loathe cathode bypass caps - they kill the sound and make it bland.
