I heard one of the older M6 preamps and it was fantastic. I suppose it's like anything as time progresses they make improvements along the way. Audio Note has some deep roots in DIY so I would guess that unlike a lot of stuff it is probably easier to make improvements to the gear so long as there is space in the box.
