Why didn't the ZX Spectrum have audio out ? - Commodore 64 ...

The Speccy does have an audio out via the MIC socket. I've snipped the wire to the internal speaker so that I only get sound out of the MIC socket. You can also snip the input to the RF Modulator and connect the composite video feed directly to the socket. Works very well. I think 128K models offer complete RGB output from one of the expansion ports.

You don't have to do all this to load games into ZX Spectrum! The main thing is that your audio player has low output signal, so it just can't do the job. You must play audio files on PC, but only rear speaker output, because you can burn front headphone output! Also, any amplifier is OK. Audio files must be in WAV format.

Back in the 1980’s the RF output from the ZX Spectrum was fine for the vast majority of televisions to tune into. However, with the decline of analog television signals and the “auto-tune” capabilities of the tuner on modern televisions, it can be very difficult to get a picture from your ZX Spectrum to display properly, if at all.

The ZX Spectrum +2A/+2B/+3 do have a suitable signal for BLANKING. These models have 12V on the RGB connector that can be used. You may wonder why 12V is suitable, as 3V is needed for BLANKING on the SCART connector: inside the ZX Spectrum there is an internal 1K resistor before the 12V is fed to the RGB connector. Together
