Greetings: I have a Zune HD 32 GB. I have no clue which of the available audio formats , i.e ., WMA (constant bit), WMA (variable bit), WMA (lossless), or MP3, would provide the best fidelity on playback. At this time, having 32 GB of storage capacity and perhaps a hundred CDs to rip, file size does not appear to be an issue.

Zune was discontinued in 2012 and the Zune software runs only on 32-bit Windows XP or 32-bit/64-bit, Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8. It is not supported for Windows 10 as the device has not been available for years unfortunately. You would have to put the software in compatibility mode, if it works at all.

In fairness, Zune was already an improvement over iPod, in that it could handle wma, mp3 and m4a, whereas iPod could only handle the latter two. But I don't think it would've been that hard to have made it compatible with more audio formats, like FLAC and ogg.
