ZSNES audio crackling [SDL?] - ubuntuforums.org

    https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=643760
ZSNES makes awful crackling noises. It's not constant at all, but occasionally distorts the whole audio. Attempting to change the audio settings didn't help anything. As the distortion happens at the exact same time in a song, SFX or similiar, it would seem as if there are some special notes that makes the noise occur. Tried to search for this both here and on …

SNES audio crackle. Pi 3, using snes9x-2010. I'm getting a quick little static or crackle sound in SNES games every few seconds, usually when there's a slight framerate drop. Even 59.9 fps will produce a pop. I've overclocked, set bitrate to 44100, etc. I've also tried a couple other emus, but they don't run as fast as 2010.

Using the bnes core, a simple 2x scale filter provided some crackling, while the HQx2 murdered the audio. timde9 15 January 2017 04:41 #14. bsnes filters are cpu while shaders are gpu, so if you have a decent gpu then yes it would be much better to use shaders rather than bsnes filters. I've tried every sound driver and only PulseAudio works. I've tried playing with the "Input Rate" slider. I've decreased it as much as possible to 31500 with the video rate at 59.0859 Hz. And per recommendations of the app, "Synchronize with Sound" is selected. That may have helped a smidgen, but there still is a ton of crackling.
