    That works fine in my Wheezy/LXDE setup on my Thinkpad T400, many thanks. Except for the 'mute' command, which kills the sound (and it stays dead in xfce too if I log into that. I have to log into Gnome Classic and toggle the 'mute' key to restore sound.
