I went straight to Microsoft Xbox website. Their solution worked for us when our Xbox would not play discs. Go to Settings > Memory. Highlight any storage device and press Y. Do not select A. Select Clear System Cache. Perform Maintenance, click Yes. Next try your game to see if it works. When you play your games, data will be restored.

Unfortunately, from what you've described it sounds like one of two things. Either a dirty optic lens on the disc drive or a dead disc drive. Obviously option one is easy to fix but does involve disassembling your 360. The 360 brand as a whole are fairly easy to take apart and directions to do so are readily available via youtube.

Total audio time should be around 75 minutes and maybe around 10 songs in total if you burn it using "Audio Cd" format. Xbox can read mp3 burned format but wont be able to rip it.
