    Huh? Plug the hdmi into your amp or tv. Plug optical into your amp. Set your amp to optical audio and you should have sound. Mine is xbox hdmi to tv, optical from Xbox to amp. Edit: if you have an older Xbox you will need an adapter. Or make one yourself. I forget what it's called, but there are a bunch of tuts on google.
