Have you tried resetting the video / audio settings on the Xbox? If not try doing this. Turn off the console and restart it using the controller. During start up hit "Y" and the Right Trigger at the same time. Do this until the console restarts.

If it's hooked up via component cable, your tv may not input at the resolution the 360 is trying to output, thus giving you no video but sound. Whenever there is a power failure, my Wii does this. It doesn't seem to save the resloution setting, and switches itself to 480i, which my tv doesn't like on component giving me no picture but sound.
