Uncheck this setting to allow audio to both the back and front. Sound Playback is set to wrong device In Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices, go to the Audio tab. Check the default device for sound playback; there may be multiple selections. Select the desired device, either rear panel or front panel. Hope this works

They work or they don't, there isn't a way to turn them on/off. Try uninstalling any drivers/software listed in Add and Remove programs, reboot, and then reinstall the drivers.

Unplug the speaker lead and plug into the the Green audio connection at the rear. Your speakers will probably not work but this will bring up the info box again and there will be a tick against the Rear Speaker entry. Untick and then tick the Front Speaker entry, click OK, and your speakers should now work.
