						1. I didn’t hear a bad speaker at Wimlsow Audio 2. Didn’t get a huge amount of time with each speaker 3. I’m being hyper-critical. Prestige Mk II For: * Fantastic mid-range and high-end detail * Great Dynamics * Nimble and well defined bass * Open and huge soundstage * Looks better in real life than in the pics Against * Bass a little lean

Product review by Shaun Kilminster: added Monday 10 May 2010 The Prestige speaker sold by Wilmslow is truly excellent. I run them with a Chord 1200 Amp, Marantz CD94 re-clocked+ Blackgate capacitors and a passive transformer volume control and it outperforms 15K studio PMCs (played with bi-amped 1200 chords).

At Wilmslow, I listened to a set of Gemini 2 stand mounts that would cost around £900. This was well over my £550 budget but convinced me that Wilmslow can indeed supply very capable and very well finished speakers. After further thought I opted for a set of compact floor standers using twin bass/midrange drive units and a treble.

Scanning the used speakers market at around the £3,000-£3,500 mark, I stumbled upon the Prestige model from Wilmslow Audio. A very nice looking speaker with great specs and a seemingly positive review from a user on their website. Now …

Wilmslow audio are a very very well established firm that made a huge variety of studio monitors and studio monitor kits some using ATC drivers plus very good aftermarket upgrade crossovers for all sorts, including one for the KEF transmission line designs that was utterly excellent.:-) 2 Share Reply Quote 5th January 2017 # 3 AndreiPiatra 🎙️

Whilst I heartily agree with your first sentence, I disagree with your second one. I built my Wilmslow Prestige clones for around £2.5k inc. professional cabinet spray finish, mightily upgraded crossovers and my own choice of drivers-the mid ranges costing 1/3rd of total. Those who have heard them compare them to speakers costing £15k or more.

I have some Prestige with modded bass and treble units and they sound superb. The cabs are dead easy to put together, and mdf really easy to sand /shape. I then took them to a high quality furniture spray shop and everyone reckons they really have a pro finish. So it can be done!
