Try installing the AC3 ACM Decompressor. That should help. This is the one!. Just right-click on the inf file and select install (I use Windows 7). I also used the AC3.zip previously mentioned. Place the AC3.vdplugin in the plugin folder under VirtualDub. Restart VirtualDub and it works Bam! That was it.

There is no ACM decompressor for WMA Pro. The WMV9 VCM codec is for video only, not for audio =) And if I am not wrong, ffdshow dropped support for the ACM interface "ages ago", even before the 'tryouts' phase. If I were you, I would use an intermediate Avisynth script.

You should select Audio, Full processing, then file, save .wav in VirtualDub. Transcode the .wav to AC3 in ffmpeggui. If your source file is 23.976, then select NTSC DVD FILM in the wizard. This will encode at 23.976 with 3:2 pulldown for you. If you're not using the wizard, select the same things manually on the Settings screen (s).
