That "HD Audio" is just a bunch of marketing nonsense, you don't have any better quality. Do you really think that you would hear a difference if you put the VM from AC'97 to HD Audio? I have a pretty decent rig, good sound card, great speakers, and I really hear no difference between an MP3 played on a Windows XP, Windows 7 or Linux Guest.
