Win 7 / 64-bit doesn't seem to recognize the virtual sound card at all, even when I explicitly select the realtek driver for it. I'm no beginner (though not as advanced on the windows side of things as the group here, hopefully!), and I'm stymied. Even looked around in the .inf to see if there was something to tweak. From the hosts terminal/command window type VBoxManage showvminfo <VM Name> --details and post here. Replace <VM Name> with the actual name of the VM. Use " " if the name has a space in it. Note if the host is Windows you need to be in the directory that has VBoxManage.exe for the command to work.

I have Windows 7 running as guest OS in Virtualbox with LM 18.3 Cinnamon 64-bit as host. I have no audio in Windows 7 which shows "no audio devices are installed" Virtualbox Manager shows audio as pulseaudio for the Windows 7 VM. I also have Xubuntu as a VM in Virtualbox and the audio works fine with that machine.

Tested VirtualBox 5.2.32 on Windows 7 host and Windows XP/7 guests. Audio quality is good. There is no distortion/skipping/stutter. However, delay is built up while playing sound. Audio is in sync at start but drifts gradually. There is a 2 second delay after 2 hours of playing. It is noticeable when start, pause or resume playing.
