VBR is to save space but also aims to keep quality constant . But high bitrate CBR 224 ~ 320 is just fine so quality won't suffer 'bitrate starvation' like is commonly claimed or at least you would be hard pressed to hear it. Technically 320 cbr should be the best quality mp3. 320vbr is better for other formats like aac - bitrate can go much higher.
