How to use analog audio with hdmi video - AVS Forum

    https://www.avsforum.com/threads/how-to-use-analog-audio-with-hdmi-video.975994/
If the TV detects hdmi and hdcp source, it automatically uses the hdmi input ONLY for both video and audio. (Which makes sense) But the analog inputs are disabled. So the only way I'll be able to use the analog audio inputs AND the hdmi for video is to somehow trick the tv into thinking the source is DVI, so the analog audio inputs become active.

I would add to the solution that since the HDMI cable sends both audio and video to the TV, you tap the analog audio out from the TV and plug it into the amp’s audio Video-in. There is an additional way to send analog audio to amp/receiver, and it has its advantages in that audio is passed to the amp even if the TV is turned off.

What Is an HDMI Audio Extractor and How Does It Work?

    https://hometheateracademy.com/hdmi-audio-extractor/
An HDMI audio extractor is a device that is used in your AV setup that splits your HDMI signal, which contains both video and audio signals. It allows you through analog audio jacks or a digital S/PDIF jack to separate and direct the audio signal into a new analog or digital source, enabling you to play that audio signal on a separate device.

You can get a powered set of speakers for the turntable to listen to have it play at the same time as the TV, or you will need to use a mixer between the devices to a single input on the receiver which can get messy with adapters for HDMI and audio.

Analog inputs play through HDMI and RCA jacks simultaneously, whereas 5.1 or greater inputs play through the HDMI output, but not the RCA output. I hope this is helpful. If you need to have a 5.1 or greater output to Zone 2, you can use a HDMI signal extractor such as ( https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=13348&gclid=Cj0KCQjwu8r4BRCzARIsAA21i_Dpk8ePLJmniOPUiRRZEqUfN...) …

Can you use RCA cables for audio while using HDMI for video?

Pilot Dane. I think splitting the audio off the HDMI will cause switching problems/complications. Most receivers and TV's are NOT designed to look for audio on analog RCA jacks when using HDMI since it digitally carries the audio information. I bet if you hook up the RCA cables they will not be used as long as there is an HDMI path for the audio.
