    Ive had a lot of success using CAT5 for stereo audio and S-Video WITHOUT balancing! The trick is to make sure you use a pair for each signal (you can choose which pair carries which signal), and if you dont use every pair (if only running just stereo) make sure you ground all the other conductors.
