I believe the mkv problem you're having is relating to DTS within the mkv file. Any ps3 "streaming software" you get is really just transcoding the audio for you on the fly. If you have the hdd space, just get MKV2VOB and convert your mkv file into a workable AVI. You can then continue to use Win7 to stream.
