    Pulseaudio+fluidsynth+tuxguitar, no sound. I have pulseaudio and fluidsynth configured. Fluidsynth plays midi files and outputs sound with no issues and I have sound output from everything else except tuxguitar. I have tried googling the whole day but there doesnt seem to be any solution to the issue available.

    Just like to note that this also fixed the issue on Ubuntu 15.04, using the JACK audio server with the pulseaudio-jack-module. Of course I don't think JACK had anything to do with the issue, I believe it was just not playing nice with PulseAudio until installing the tuxguitar-jsa package.

    TuxGuitar must use a different method to play sounds then, for example, NtEd. I just tested and found that if I issue the command "sudo service timidity restart" everything works. However, pulseaudio starts at S25, while timidity starts at S99.
