I have tried a bunch of SET designs for 300B and 2A3s and the one I like the best is a simple one tube driver, direct coupled to the grid of the 45 or 2A3. Excellent SET amp built by Min at Tube Audio Labs. The amp is pictured at Min's website, in the project index under "Vince's JE Labs Simple 45 Stereo Amp." It is the same amp pictured, but also had a volume control built in. I generally ran my 96 db sensitive speakers using this amp without a preamp. The parts are first rate.
