11,147. You're Arcam doesn't have "Main amp" input capabilities so you can't use the preamp there, but you can use the tube preamp at the CD (same as aux) input but you would also introduce more noise as preamp going into preamp having two preamps and controls to contend with. cademan, Saturday at 11:39 AM. #3.

All the speakers I have at the moment were made in the mid 70's and beyond. They all probably would have been modeled using SS equipment. Back when tubes were all there was, a big amplifier would have been 30 to 60 or 70wpc. If your speakers are rated at 97db, your not going to need a huge tube power amp.

It's not a ground or tube problem and the caps are new. Am I looking at a transformer problem? Appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.

Tube amp causing scratching static sound | My Les Paul Forum

    https://www.mylespaul.com/threads/tube-amp-causing-scratching-static-sound.24559/
I bought a used Victoria 45410 (Bassman) amp recently and was practicing for about 2 hours when it began to get a scratchy, static sound no matter the knob settings or whether the guitar was plugged into the amp or not. My first guess is that one or more capactors are going. Or perhaps a tube, but I'm not thinking tube(s) as much as caps.
