Go into BIOS and check that the audio is enabled. Check Control Panel - Device Manager and see if there is a yellow mark next to the audio device. You can try removing the Audio device and also remove the drivers, click on "Action" and select "Scan for Hardware Changes" and let Windows find and configure the audio driver. The description text for the icon says, "No Audio Output Device Is Installed." I looked up the information for a while, and on this very site I find a quickfix method: Go to Device Manager, then to Sound, Video, and Game Controllers, and then enable and disable. Simple. Except my Device Manager didn't seem to have an option for that.

Anyway, please try to enable Playback device 1. Right click speaker icon (right hand corner) 2. Select Playback devices 3. Right click Speakers 4. Enable it and set as Default 5. Click Apply/Ok Regards and good luck. Note: I think this machine could be at least 6 years old and you may take into account hardware problem.
