Install the 6.8. That fixed the problem with the amp turning on with only battery and ground hooked up. Amp works as it should . Now the only problem I have is the thermal light is Illuminated when the amp is on but it plays clean audio . Repost the DC voltage on the LM324 instead of taking the amp apart.
