For the last of us I was only able to get it to give me the 5.1 option by changing the settings in the ps4 sound output settings to optical out instead of hdmi. Even though you are not running optical from the ps4 it will still transmit sound through the hdmi port but allow the last of us to use the 5.1 audio option.
