They play back but the receiver is telling me I am getting back pcm and not dsd. Am I even getting dsd at this point as it is playing back. My old onkyo would display it was playing back dsd.

It is an SACD, not a DVD-ROM. There has NEVER been an optical drive for the PC that would read an SACD. And as edDV alluded to, you need a SACD player to play it, unless you have a hybrid SACD, where one layer is a standard audio cd and the second layer is an SACD, you will never be able to play it on anything other than a player that will play SACD.
