    The Audioengine A2+ has a built in DAC and its own drivers in Windows. If you use the USB it will use the built in DAC if you use the RCA you will bypass it. Only worth doing if you have a better DAC then the built in one either externally or on a sound card. At least thats how I understand it from when I was setting mine up
