The BDP-80 does so much more including DVD-A, that I don't think there is any doubt that the Oppo BDP-80 is a better player overall than the Sony BDP-S570. I think Sony Blu-ray players are great so if that is your decision, I am sure it will be fine but it isn't competition for a universal player in my opinion.
