The SONOS Wireless Music System — Audiophilia

    https://www.audiophilia.com/reviews/2015/6/10/9np26qteae8tcw9f1thkx7gvwzp5lh
SONOS (Sonos) founder and CEO John MacFarlane foresaw the future was digital and wireless but with streaming as the eventual format of choice. Maybe not for the audiophile, at least at the time, but it was coming. That was in 2002. Today, Sonos is the mainstream brand for music delivery in a wireless/streaming world.

The Sonos Arc’s MSRP is $799. SONOS S2 app. The recent upgrade path to the present began in an odd way. I’m not sure how they did it, but the new Sonos app (S2) released last week—an app to accommodate the upgraded processing power of the new speakers—improved the sound of my system significantly.

Sonos Play: 5 is a very good replacement and upgrade of its predecessor, and constitutes a worthy flagship Sonos its excellent program with wireless streaming speaker. The sound as a single unit constitutes a neutral and very good sounding device, which extends almost spooky far down in the bass range.

Beyond those it the rest of the line becomes more about good quality and convienience - and of course great multiroom.

It’s not as robust as we’d usually expect from a streamer costing this much, but isn’t much different in that regard from its predecessor.

Any audiophiles use Sonos? : sonos - reddit

    https://www.reddit.com/r/sonos/comments/973w8a/any_audiophiles_use_sonos/
From my own listening experience, Sonos Play:5s are capable of audiophile quality, with some assistance, but the smaller units are not. My main system's driven through B&W speakers, and there's nothing Sonos makes that will compare to the sound I get from that system.

While I firmly believe that in the current state of things, Sonos is still the very best option for multi-room audio both in performance, scalability and ease of use, Sonos also isn't audiophile grade.
