Part of Simaudio's bread-and-butter Moon Classic series, the i5.3 is mostly a dual-mono design -- both channels share only a transformer and power cord. It measures 17"W x 4"H x 15"D, weighs 28 pounds, and produces 85Wpc into 8 ohms and 130Wpc into 4 ohms. The i5.3 has a massive 500-volt-amp toroidal transformer, which Simaudio claims has low ...

Simaudio's Moon LP5.3 MM/MC phono preamplifier ($1400) is silly good! It has single-ended RCA inputs and both single-ended and true balanced-differential outputs. It also offers a wide range of adjustments for gain (54, 60, and 66dB), resistive loading (10, 100, 470, 1k, and 47k ohms), and capacitive loading (0, 100, and 470pF), all accomplished via a series of …

Hi all,I'm new to the postings and had a question - has anyone out there bought/reviewed the new Simaudio I-5.3, Simaudio I-7, or the Marantz PM-11S1? I'm looking for a solid state integrated amp in that price range, and have heard rumors that these models are excellent. However, I haven't been able to find much out there in terms of articles or owner …

Simaudio is a great company to deal with and I have owned many in the last 30 years. I have changed to a tube set up a few months back, but was not in a rush to sell as I do think that this is one of the best amps in this price range. The replacement was twice the price the Sim was new for a little more soundstage.

The Simaudio has better flavor/bass depth and yet still highly detailed. It was my close second choice in a recent integrated search. However, after listening to all available options, I ended up with a Cayin A-88T with 6550s. Never thought I'd end up with a tube amp - the thing sounds amazing. I thought it was a far sight better than most ...

I've always had doubts on Simaudio's lesser product lines, but 5.3i only operates in class A for the first 4-5 watts. Remaining watts are assumed to operate in class A/B. A pair of normal bookshelf speakers (PSB Two B) was used to compare the int-amps, no significant wattage was used.

Uncompromising analog die-hards, on the other hand, should keep the Simaudio LP5.3 in mind—a 2009 Editor’s Choice Award and 2008 Product of the Year winner. Sonically the i3.3 doesn’t make a conspicuously wrong move, and where it misses the mark it does so without undermining the essence of the music.
