If the Audio Service is turned off, what is happening is that when you reinstall the audio driver it is turning Audio Service back on, and it stays on until you restart. This is a problem with Windows. I don't know what triggered the problem and I recommend using System Restore to try to undo the event that caused this.

Usb speakers contain their own DAC, and as such are a separate audio device from the Sigmatel audio system, so in effect 2 different audio systems are not working.
