Re: cannot get the Sharp G.726 Audio (45) codec to work in WMP 11 I think you need to contact Sharp manufacturer because as far as I know in order to play local ASF playback on Vista, the vendor would need to provide a Media Foundation Transform (MFT) and I doubt if Sharp has any such thing.

Windows Media Player cannot play the file (or cannot play either the audio or video portion of the file) because the Sharp G.726 Audio (45) codec is not installed on your computer. The missing codec might be available to download from the Internet. For more information about codecs, see Codecs: frequently asked questions.

G.726 audio file - VideoHelp Forum

The reason I am asking is that G.726 is an ancient audio codec used for voice (talking - NOT music) transmission over telephone lines. I don't know of anything that will play it off the top of my head. When people supposedly use exotic codecs on files it is often used to hide the fact that the file is infected with a virus.
