Add a small bit at a time to get it to the right thickness. You can actually turn Sludge in to a very hard putty if you add enough avtivator to it.. Hope that helps

Both products are the same, just that Sludge comes with an activator which makes the Spectrum base product super thick, which allows you to apply it in one thick coat.
