The 2000a is a fine receiver, probably one of sansui's best low powered at the time. If you plan to use it as a preamp, I would highly suggest replacing the old electrolytics in the preamp/tone board with some high quality low noise caps. That same board is covered with 2sc458 transistors that will become leaky and cause a high noise floor.

I also love sansui and have owned so many since I got into vintage gear a few years ago. I cycled through one low-end receiver after another before I eventually wised up and bought a Sansui AU-D907G Extra that crushes most expensive modern gear.
