The Samsung DVD Player has a digital coaxial output, so I purchased a coaxial to optical converter. Having waited for the arrival of the converter, and connected it this morning, I am getting no sound from the DVD player when the optical switch is switched over and I get a message on the screen saying 'hdmi audio not supported'.

Just found out that you have to have DD5.1 sound set to Bitstream in the player's Audio menu otherwise it outputs Dolby ProLogic II only on my setup. It's the Bitstream setting that causes the 'HDMI audio is not supported' error message. Still it only appears onscreen for a few seconds so it's not too annoying at all.
