The Sabre is an 8 channel DAC,,, but it doesn't have to be an 8 channel DAC. The part will configure for stereo and can have 4 channels summed for the left and 4 for the right. Each channel is differential with a dual DAC. So, there are 16 DAC output pins in total. I posted these links in another thread, they probably should be included in this ...

The algorithm uses 28 bits to keep the roudning errors minimised. On top of that, when the voluem moves to a new level, it moves in steps f 1/64th of a dB, this is to make sure the "clicking" that can be heard on some implematations is not audible. As an aside, the ASRC patent in no longer pending, it was issued Feb 12.

Did Sabre SNR / DNR spec deteriorate when used in sync mode? Do you mean when used in asynch mode? I'm also interested in the difference between the Sabre operating in synch mode & asynch mode - any opinion? 2- Does any opamp settles to the said 32 bits precision in the sampling period? (the...

because there isnt any gain to get to that level, it is simply converting current to voltage and by producing less than unity gain you have indeed lowered the snr and dnr. the sabre produces about ~3vrms with no gain, to get less you would need to add some sort of attenuation, adding noise in...
